Your Relationship with God is Meant to be Personal
I am not a seminary scholar and, if I’m honest, I don’t read my Bible as much as I should. In fact, there are books of the Bible that I sometimes forget are even there (Joel, anyone?). But, I love God and I love writing. Sometimes, God puts a message on my heart and I have little to no outlet for it. That’s why this site exists. I believe that if God has brought you to this site, you’re meant to be here. Here’s the first thing I want you to hear me say and the thing that I think God wants all of us to hear above anything and everything else:
Your relationship with God is meant to be a deeply personal relationship between God and you.
He sacrificed his son so that you could have this relationship and then sent his spirit to create an unfailing connection between us and him.
Your relationship isn’t meant to be your pastor’s relationship with God. It is not meant to be your parent’s relationship with God. It is not meant to be your congregation’s relationship with God. It is yours. It is your responsibility to seek God, to seek to know Him better, to seek to know His word better.
This relationship is meant for more than when you’re in a building. Church happens when believers bond together and worship God together; the building is just a convenient space for that to happen. We are all supposed to help each other grow, but you are still responsible for pursuing that growth.
Look at it this way, you can get all the advice in the world about which plants to plant at certain times in your local area to see the optimal growth. But you have to plant those seeds. You can get advice about how to care for and nurture those plants, but you have to do the nurturing.
This entire site is something I felt called to make to help my own growth with God, so I can share what he shares with me. We’re called not to hide our light, so this is me, setting my beacon on top of a hill for all to see.
If you want to be along for that journey, I am most excited to share it with you.
